Welcome to my blog

My name is Brittney Cocco, and this is The Cocco Channel. This blog has been a long time coming! I have been itching to be able to sit down and share some of my thoughts. There is something so peaceful about hearing these keys click away and envisioning this project finally coming to life. In this very first post, I want to share what you can expect from me on this page, who I am as a person, and what my dreams and goals are. I am so incredibly thankful that you are here and I sure do hope that you stick around. I promise not all posts will be so long!

I'm not going to start with the beginning of me, 1987 to be exact, but rather the beginning of this. I have now been in the social media game for five years. I married a military man in 2011, and it took me from my hometown of Las Vegas across the country to Washington D.C. I was lonely, I was bored, and I missed my mommy. Yes, you read that right, and I am not ashamed to admit it. I was getting seriously interested in the makeup industry and had discovered the world of YouTube. I watched it all from hauls to tutorials and even the goddesses of DIY. I thought- I could do that. It took me a couple of years to get the courage. I uploaded my very first video on June 29th, 2014, and I was hooked! I was amazed at the community I found myself in with women from all over the world. It was surreal to think that there was no other way I would have met these people if not for me sitting in front of this $100 camcorder, talking to a wall.

I fell pregnant with my son and gave up YouTube for the entire pregnancy. The week I had him, I realized I missed those connections and the community. I came back and with a new strategy. I wasn't going to focus on just the makeup. The market for beauty vloggers and influencers was overwhelming. It was similar to the lottery system for being recognized and getting love, not likely. I was a mom now, and maybe I could help others with product reviews and some advice on this new adventure of motherhood. I also came to realize that I had some pretty crazy things happen to me in my life and thus was born the Story Time video series. My husband bought me my very first DSLR camera that year for Christmas, and boom, a new channel was born!

As social media grew, I tried to grow with it. I made a Facebook Page had a SnapChat and created an IG account. It was overwhelming, and I didn't know where to focus. I wasn't exploding like I wanted to or expected to. My storytimes were going "viral," but my weekly content was only getting minimal views.

It was then that I decided to open my shop, Cocco Fleur. It was always a dream to have my shop. There is something very magical about the transaction between customer and business owner, but that's a whole other post. I opened my doors on September 1st, 2018, and it has been a learning curve, but I love every second of it.
In January of this year, 2019, my husband deployed, and I found myself yearning to fill up every second of my day not to miss him. I delved deep into the social media waters to see what else I could do. I want to make social media a successful and full-time job. Even with uploading three YouTube videos (almost) every week, posting on IG every single day, and now have two children, I wanted to express myself more. I wanted my hand in all of the social media buckets.

That's where this and you come in. We are caught up, and it's time to tell you what you can expect from me and this page. YouTube is an overview of my week and sharing smaller details with you. IG is where I can share things in the then and now on stories and some stills of my life in little squares. Here, I want to offer you an edited version of style. Style of the face, of the body, the home, the kids, but most of all, the heart and mind. If you know me, you know I am most importantly a daughter of Christ, and also a power of positivity warrior. I want to share things from the basics of makeup and
comfy clothes for that curvy body, to how to start your day with a positive outlook on life. I have so many ideas for fashion posts to the best books for your children to know God. It will be a variety. It will be helpful. It will be FUN! I am just so excited, and I hope you are too.
